QLD:Jobs grow despite floods

Queensland Treasurer ANDREW FRASER says a statewide growth in jobs despite the state's
flooding crisis is a remarkable result.

Today's figures from the Bureau of Statistics shows Australia's unemployment rate at
five per cent in January .. its lowest level in almost two years.

In Queensland .. the rate fell from six per cent in December to 5.6 per cent .. and
Mr FRASER says the state's seen four thousand 600 new jobs and 18 straight months of growth.

But he's noted the ABS has reported an impact on their sample because of the floods
.. meaning the figures have to be treated with a level of caution.

Mr FRASER says the government's pledge to create 100-thousand new jobs before its term
ends has just over 16-thousand positions left to go.
