NT: Man charged with bashing pregnant partner near Alice Springs
DARWIN, April 23 AAP - A man has been charged with bashing his pregnant partner with
a glass bottle at a remote Aboriginal community outside of Alice Springs.
The 31-year-old man is accused of attacking the woman at the desert community of Amoonguna
on April 17, hitting her in the buttock, causing her severe bruising and difficulty walking.
Three days later, police said he again attacked the 33-year-old woman, who is 20-weeks
pregnant, coming at her from behind and punching her several times in the stomach before
elbowing her in the back and forcing her to the ground.
The man has been charged with aggravated assault and was remanded in custody to appear
in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
