NSW: Residents with pools urged to signal fire brigade
Bush residents with swimming pools are being urged to signal fire crews by tying a
coloured cloth to the front of their home.
The New South Wales Fire Brigade says swimming pools will be a valuable source of water
over the weekend.
Fire Brigade spokesman IAN KRIMMER says residents should tie a white or bright coloured
cloth such as a tea towel or pillow slip to their letter box or fence post to indicate
they have a pool.
He says most fire vehicles carry a small portable pump that can be carried to the rear
of a property and used to draw water from a pool.
